Woman shot dead in armed robbery incident planned by husband

The woman, Ele Ngozi, who was 32 years old, was a major dealer in recharge cards and mobile phones in Abia State. Her husband, popularly known as Congo, worked as a operating theatre aassistant in FMC, Umuahia.

They reportedly had constant quarrels over sex which his wife refused accusing him of always sleeping around. He was also reported to always beat her up as she was often seen with stitches and injuries. At the time of the incident, they were not staying in the same house although they were in the same compound. He has always been jealous of her being more successful than him.

The robbers shot through the door to force it open after asking her to open it and she refused not knowing that she was behind the wooden door. The bullet entered her abdomen. After she was shot, the woman recognised one of the robbers as her husband’s elder sister’s son and repeatedly shouted his name.

The two robbers had decided to kill the help but only spared her life after she begged them to consider that she was just a child who did not understand Igbo, the language they spoke. They however went and shot the woman again, this time, in the chest.

Her husband, Congo, who was in the family house in the same compound when everything happened never came out until she had been rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The police had arrested the killer before when he robbed Ele Ngozi in the past and was only released after she withdrew the charges against him. And that incident was also organised by her husband.

The incident took place at her house at 10.00pm on July 01st in Isuochi, Umunneochi LGA of Abia State.

Congo has been arrested while his nephew is on the run. The matter is still being investigated by the police.
