Delta State police have reportedly rescued 34 children from the hands of the kidnappers in Okunzu community located not far from Asaba.
According to the information gathered by Leadership, 2 suspects were killed in the operation carried out last Friday.
The police public relations official Celestina Kalu disclosed that the victims had been deceived by kidnappers into a pick-up van with registration number AA 136 XX. As on the tip-off, the detectives ambushed the criminals, two of them were shot dead, however 3 others managed to escape.
Kalu added that none of the children were hurt during the rescue operation. He said that scared community residents had previously reported about the alleged invasion of ritualists into the area.
