I'm sure many people don't know who Borna Coric is. I didn't know him either until an hour ago when he was already leading world number 3, Rafael Nadal in the first set of their Swiss Indoors Quarter-Finals. The competiton is taking place in Basel, Switzerland.
Coric, currently ranked number 124, is a 17 year old from Croatia, same country as world number 1, Novak Djokovic. His win over Nadal will see his ranking move up to within the world's top 100.
I could not believe the way the teenager Borna Coric outplayed Nadal. Coric went after every ball. He had an answer to every move the Spanish leftie made. I can tell you authoritatively that Nadal had to sweat for practically every point he made. Although the 2nd set ended in a tie-breaker, Coric clearly outplayed Nadal. The match ended 6-2; 7-6 in favour of the Croatian.
