Man United are said to be readying a move for former star Cristiano Ronaldo next summer with the Old Trafford side confident of luring the Portuguese international back to the club he left in 2009.
Jorge Mendes is ready to enter into talks with Man United as his client considers leaving Real Madrid with the La Liga side having started to usher in a new era of ‘Galaticos’.

The arrivals of Gareth Bale, Isco, Asier Illarramendi, James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos over recent transfer windows have seen Real Madrid making plans for the long term and Ronaldo may feel that the time is right to consider a return to Man United.

Whilst Cristiano Ronaldo’s individual form over the course of his five years in the Spanish capital has been nothing short of outstanding Real Madrid have fairly little to show for that period with the Bernabeu side have won just one La Liga title in the five seasons the attacker has been at the club.

Last term’s Champions League success will have sated Ronaldo’s desire to lif the trophy with Real Madrid and there are reports suggesting that the player is open to a move back to Man United and his agent has helped two of his other clients move to the club this summer, Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao.

Though Ronaldo will have turned 30 by the time the transfer window opens next summer Man United are willing to offer as much as €70m (£55m) and could also allow loaned out striker Javier Hernandez to move to Real Madrid on a permanent basis as part of a part-exchange deal that may just tempt president Florentino Perez to sell.

Man United’s owners are confident that the financial benefits of welcoming back Ronaldo to the club more than outweigh the fairly hefty bid for a player who will be entering the latter stages of his glittering career.
