Joan Rivers out of intensive care
Comedian Joan Rivers has left intensive care, her daughter Melissa has said in a statement.
The 81-year-old has been moved to a private room and is comfortable.
"My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable. Thank you for your continued support,” Melissa said.
The acid-tongued comic was initially placed in a medically-induced coma after collapsing on Thursday during a routine throat operation.
The waking-up process began on Sunday at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. According to reports in the US the family are still gravely concerned the acid-tongued comedienne will never fully recover and could be left “a vegetable”.
On Saturday it was revealed she had been left completely reliant on a life support to keep her alive.
The development comes as the family are alleged to be considering legal action against the Manhattan clinic who were carrying out the procedure on her throat when she suffered a respiratory and cardiac arrest.
“Shock and upset is turning to anger, and they are looking for someone to blame,” added the family insider.
Rivers had previously told friends and family she would not want to live unless she could enjoy “a full and active life,” as one source put it. “(She) would never want to be a burden on anyone.”
