Di Maria to convince Cristiano Ronaldo to sign for Manchester United

Angel Di Maria, Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo recently revealed his disappointment that Real Madrid sold Angel Di Maria to Manchester United for $99 million, as the Argentine winger had formed a close bond with the reigning World Player of the Year.

Since then, Di Maria has said he only stayed at Real because of Ronaldo.
A bromance of epic proportions is playing out, which is why this report from the Daily Express is hard to believe as they claim Di Maria will try to convince Ronaldo, 29, to move back to Manchester United next summer.

Rumors continue to persist about Ronaldo leaving Real, as the attacker himself admitted he "loves Manchester United" and “hope to return one day.” Well, it seems like Di Maria’s presence at Old Trafford would certainly help that happen.

Di Maria dazzled on his home debut for United at the weekend, scoring the opener, and having a hand in the other three goals as the Red Devils won 4-0 against Queens Park Rangers. If he does persuade his good friend to join him in Manchester, with a transfer fee of around $99 million touted around, where will Ronaldo fit in?

Well, by this time next summer perhaps Robin van Persie will be on his way out and maybe Radamel Falcao’s loan won’t turn into a permanent deal if the chance to bring Ronaldo up is realistic. That would open up two slots for him to play in, as the Portuguese superstar is adored by the United fans and his name was chanted by the raucous 75,000 crowd on Sunday. Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 appearances for United after he joined as a teenager from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 and was then sold to Real in 2009.

Between now and next summer, rumors will persist about Ronaldo heading back to Manchester and his pal Di Maria will play a big part in fueling that fire.
