Nigeria: 5 New Suspected Ebola Cases In Lagos

Five persons suspected to have been infected with the deadly Ebola disease have been admitted at the Mainland Hospital in Yaba, Lagos, according to State Health Commissioner, Mr. Jide Idris.

Idris in a press briefing Wednesday said of the 5 new cases admitted on Tuesday 2 were secondary contacts. 

With the latest development, Lagos so far has 12 confirmed suspected Ebola cases, the official said, adding that five victims have died from the disease in Lagos, while “We are currently following up 213 contacts…”

He also confirmed the death of Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh, 58, the lead Consultant at First Consultants Hospital in Obalende, Lagos, where Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian-American man that brought the disease to Lagos was first treated.
