Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho Picks His First Choice Goalkeeper For 2014/15
Blues boss comes to a decision on number one keeper.Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly decided on who will be his number one goalkeeper this season, with the Daily Mail claiming that Thibaut Courtois will get the nod over Petr Cech between the sticks.
The Blues have had a selection dilemma for much of the summer after Courtois’ return from a highly impressive three-year loan stint with Atletico Madrid, during which time he has become regarded as perhaps the best goalkeeper in the world.
Cech has also been hailed as one of the greats of his generation in that position, but now looks set to make way for the club’s young pretender, which will surely spark interest from other top clubs before the end of the transfer window.
The likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco have all been linked with the Czech Republic shot-stopper, who has had a long and great career at Stamford Bridge up until now.
It remains to be seen if Mourinho will be ready to sell the 32-year-old, as he may want to keep him as a backup player, though it seems unlikely that he himself will be content to sit on the bench after so many years as number one.
