Man hires hitmen to set his wife on fire in Ebonyi after she only gave birth to girls

A man was furious when his wife gave birth to another girl.

The man wanted a son, and when his wife did not deliver one, the husband allegedly decided to kill her.

Paul Nwakpuda, a patent medicine dealer in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, is accused of hiring hitmen to kill his wife, Monica Nwakpuke, because she could not give him a son.

Three attackers waited for Monica outside the house of her father, and when she came out the men blindfolded, beat and kidnapped her.



 Then they doused her with fuel, set her on fire and fled the scene. A passerby found her and took her to the hospital, where she is reportedly in critical condition.

The victim’s younger brother, Domingo Nwigbo, said that Paul was responsible for the incident. Nwigbo revealed that Paul had always been angry with his wife of 12 years for only giving birth to girls.

Paul Nwakpuda fled from his home and is on the run as police are conducting an investigation.
