As early as 8.30 this morning there were reports that the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Nwanzunku Chukwuma had been impeached. Also, another member of the House, Odefa Obasi Jnr, was also reportedly suspended from the house.
It is curious that the said impeachment and suspension were done from Enugu so early this morning without the House sitting.
The "new speaker" is Helen Nwobasi.
Those on the camp of the alleged impeached speaker, Nwazunku Chukwuma, when contacted said that the House members cannot impeach the speaker without sitting. They also said that the speaker cannot be impeached from Enugu. And that Chukwuma Nwazunku remained the speaker as he still had the mace.
