Arsenal will finish outside top four despite arrival of Alexis Sanchez - Michael Owen

Arsenal fans looking forward to a title challenge this season should lower their expectations, according to former England forward Michael Owen.

The man who famously scored two goals against the north London club in the 2001 FA Cup final, believes the Gunners will struggle to qualify for the Champions League.

The biggest name to arrive at the Emirates has been Alexis Sanchez with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger also welcoming Newcastle defender Mathieu Debuchy.

But despite Wenger splashing the cash, Owen told talkSPORT earlier this week that they are still missing the quality to mount a credible title challenge.

"I have been really impressed with Arsenal's signing of Sanchez," said Owen.

"The signing of Sanchez has made everyone sit up and take note. I really do rate him, he's a top player and it's a big step in the right direction.

"But in particular order, my top four for next season would be Chelsea, Man City, Man United and Liverpool.

"Arsenal haven't had any real stand out players in the last few years, like Thierry Henry. They have just lagged behind."
