Terror Kingpin Nabbed Among 486 Suspects Arrested in Abia



 A terror kingpin on the list of wanted terrorists by security forces in Nigeria has been identified as one of the 486 Boko Haram suspects who were nabbed on Sunday by the Nigerian Army in Abia State en route to Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.Making this known yesterday, the Director of Defence Information, Major-General Chris Olukolade, in a statement, said during the screening of the 486 suspects who were apprehended in Abia, the terror kingpin who had been on the wanted list was identified and taken into custody.“So far other security agencies including the para-military have joined the screening exercise to ascertain the status of the remaining suspects.  Those identified as possible security risks or illegal immigrants are expected to be identified for further action.

“Meanwhile, the identified terror kingpin has been taken into custody.  Further developments will be communicated to you in due course,” he said.The Nigerian Army had on Sunday apprehended 486 persons who were travelling in a motorcade of 35 Totota Hummer buses along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.Although two of the buses were able to escape arrest by the military, others who were detained by the army were being interrogated to ascertain their mission in Rivers State.

The arrest of the suspects came a few hours after a foiled bomb attack on a church in Owerri, the Imo State capital.The Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, had ominously warned last week that it would only be a matter of time before Boko Haram terrorists extend their scope of attacks to the southern part of the country.
