Boko Haram now controls 20 out of 27 LGAs in Borno

The Borno State government has revealed that Boko Haram now controls 20 out of the 27 Local Government  Areas in the state. Only Maiduguri Metropolitan, Jere, Konduga, Kaga, Bayo, Kwayakusar and Biu local government areas remain in government hands as reported by The Nation.

The government also said it has 2million Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to provide for and that it recently moved 45, 000 of such displaced persons from neighbouring Adamawa State. These facts were made available by the state Deputy Governor, Zanna Umar Mustapha.

Speaking at the one of the IDPs camps, the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Zanna Umar Mustapha who was on a sympathy visit to the camp said taking care of the people is setting back the state financially to the tune of N600m per month.

He commended the military and other security agencies in Adamawa and Borno states for their battle against insurgency in the North-East but appealed to them to intensify their efforts.

It is really sad that up to now, Boko Haram is still allowed to act almost unchallenged in the state and indeed in Northern Nigeria.
