The wife of the coordinator of Ohaozara DC in Ohaozara Local Government was kidnapped last night from their residence in 12 Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Abakaliki.
The kidnappers, 2 of them, stopped their neighbour as she was about to drive into her house and pointed a gun at her and took her to the coordinator's house where the door was opened because they recognised her voice.
As soon as the kidnappers got in, they beat up the coordinator's wife, locked her kids in a room and left with both women; the coordinator's wife and her neighbour. They left in the neighbour's car.
As they drove away, the kidnappers argued whether to go with both women, but those who sent them asked them to come with just the coordinator's wife, so they stopped and ordered her to leave the vehicle after which they sped off.
The incident occurred at about 8.15 last night.
No word has yet been heard about the whereabouts of the kidnapped woman or a ransom.
