Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, have recovered 1.370 kilogramme of whitish powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine from one Ifeanyi Nriagwu.
Our correspondent learnt that the drug, which was sealed in parcels and kept inside a laptop bag, was found after a thorough search of the smuggler’s luggage.
The 34-year-old suspect, who hails from Anambra, was caught at the departure hall during the screening of passengers on a Turkish flight.
The Commander of the NDLEA at the MMIA, Mr. Hamza Umar, said, “The suspect was found with two parcels of cocaine industrially hidden by the sides of his laptop bag. He was detected on his way to Turkey from where he would have proceeded to South Sudan. The drug tested positive for cocaine and weighed 1.370kg.”
Nriagwu said he embarked on the mission in anticipation of a $3,500 (N568,000) reward which he could have used to take care of his family as no one was ready to assist him.
